In-Depth Review | 1-on-1-Resumes.com

For job seekers on a very tight budget, the siren song here is bargain basement pricing ($89.95), and
the same low price regardless of experience level. To further tempt, the company guarantees you'll get a job
interview within 30 days or they'll rewrite your resume at no additional charge.
Unfortunately, there are problems aplenty with this company. Foremost among them, writing quality.
Admittedly, this is a common and practically expected downside with many if not most budget resume services.
In the case of 1-on-1-Resumes.com, $89.95 isn't going to buy the same quality of workmanship as say, the $249
you'll spend with companies that garnered our 5-star rating. That's evident in the resume samples
posted on 1-on-1's website.
There are other troubling issues with the company, as well (see what we didn't like,
below)...
Here's How It Works
On the home page, click the link marked "Click Here To Have Us Write Your Resume!" Send along
your existing resume, if you have one, and complete an online form/questionnaire. Fill it out thoroughly,
because at these prices, you won't be getting a telephone interview from your assigned writer. If the need arises,
you can communicate with your writer, and vice versa, but only through a messaging system.
Your finished resume will be sent within 2-3 business days via email in Microsoft Word format. Contact
your writer if you need to make any changes or corrections.
The company claims to guarantee a job interview within 30 days. If that doesn't happen, they'll rewrite the
resume at no charge (but note: at another place on their site, fixing "imperfections" is all that's promised).
Here's What We Liked
-
The price is certainly easy on the pocketbook. And it's one price fits all.
- Turnaround is a speedy 2-3 business days, with faster service available for an extra charge.
- Hard copies prints are available for a fee.
- An interview is supposedly guaranteed within 30 days, or they will re-work and rewrite your
resume.
- The company was founded in 1999. So they've been around for a while.
Here's What We Didn't Like
- We had questions. Initially, our emails went into a black hole and nobody answered the phone. We
waited to see if somebody would return our call; after three weeks, nothing. A few months later, we tried
again. Nothing. It took months upon months, but we finally connected with personnel from the company, including
a writer and the company president. (In the interest of fairness, once we had the attention of the president,
our questions were addressed promptly. And that president assured us that they have put in place "a dedicated
client services and management team and answer all inbound calls during business hours--and return others
promptly.")
- We were not impressed with the resume samples posted on the company's website. Too often,
graphic design took center stage over the writing, poor choices in font colors made that
writing hard to read, and grammatical errors populated what should be pristine examples of their
craftsmanship.
- Some of their advertising claims border on the deceptive. For example, they state: "Rated the
#1 resume writing site in the Azoos network 3 years in a row!" What they don't tell you is that "Azoos" is
their parent company. The "network" consists of this company, plus two additional Azoos-owned resume services.
We've seen political ads with more integrity.
- Finally, let's talk Better Business Bureau. Having previously given the company an "A" rating,
the BBB dropped that to "C-" and subsequently to an "F." In addition, they revoked BBB
accreditation from the company for failure to comply with agreed BBB standards. As of late 2012, the company
appears to be on the mend with the BBB: their rating has been boosted to a C- in large part due to the
company's response to the customer complaints--which remain numerous.
1-on-1-Resumes.com Review - The Wrap Up
For those on a tight budget, the temptation is strong to turn one's resume project over to a company that
promises professional results for less than ninety bucks. Resist the temptation. The truth is that the writing
quality here is simply not up to par with the services we rate 3, 4 and 5 stars. And although 1-on-1-Resumes.com
appears to be making progress with the BBB, and the company president assures that a turnaround is
underway, spotty customer service and a history of complaints continue to taint this company.
If you can budget a few more bucks, consider the $199.95 resume at ResumeWriters.com or the $249.00 resume at ResumeEdge.com. These are two companies with top-notch certified writers and very attentive
customer service. See the pull-down menu at the top of this page for in-depth reviews of each.
Our recommendation is to AVOID this company for the time being. Still, if you'd like to explore on your
own...

Usually, the resume writer has either a face-to-face or a phone interview before wrtining a resume, So he or she can have more details about your experience. But the One-O-One resume asked me to submit a copy of my resume, which I did. And they re-wrote the same resume WITHOUT having any phone or face-to-face interview.
In short, I just wasted my TIME & MONEY by going to this resume service. I would NEVER recommend any one to get ones resume written by these people. You can pay some extra bucks and can save your time & money in the future.
Well written ---- ummm, Not
Money back guarantee ---- ummmm, NOT!!!! you can not get these people to respond to any complaints or concerns! I have emailed and phoned on soooo many occasions!
SAVE your money people! A ZOO is more like it! Yup, maybe it is All in a name! Should have been a clue --- ya think! Ummmm, ya
When I asked to use the "no interviews within 30 days re-write warranty", they bitched that I contacted them past 30 days?? Huh? There are no stipulations whatsoever on their website stating that. The only wording states that if you do not get an interview within 30 days they will do a re-write.
These folks are SCAMMERS, and PHONIES, STAY AWAY.
Nothing shown on their site states that it has to be acted on within 30 days, or when they are contacted after 30 days they will bitch and moan and tell you how YOU the customer failed in your search.
They still refer to KSA's, when they tell you all about how you did not do a proper search on USAJOBS. The Government does NOT use KSA's anymore and they did not know that. And these are the people writing your federal resume.
I can see why the BBB revoked their affiliation. and NO they are not certified professionals - again go elsewhere.

The parent company, Ihire LLC, operates a number of niche job boards, of which iHireBroadcasting is one. A quick search on the web for the keywords “ihire complaints” or “ihirejobnetwork complaints” pulls up a number of customers complaining about the company’s services, namely the difficulty in cancelling the “free” trial membership or issues with advertised claims.
On the other hand, the Better Business Bureau gives the parent company an A+ rating, complaints notwithstanding.
My advice: if you spend the time and dig deep into other, free job boards, you can probably find the same job listings. If you want to try the service, make sure you can locate their customer service phone number (and make sure it works) before you sign up with a credit card for a “free 7-day trial.” If you wish to cancel, you’ll need that phone number. And even then, monitor your credit card statement for a month or two to make sure no additional charges appear.
Good luck. -- Editor
VERY Unhappy with this service!!!
You don't need to give your email address or any website info - just a first name and the city or state where you're located. -- Editor
